KIA Concept EV5 Previews Electric Sportage Successor

Kia has revealed the EV5 Concept SUV, its third bespoke electric car, just a week after revealing the flagship seven-seat EV9 concept.Inspired by the EV9's ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, the Concept EV5 provides a preview of a production all-electric SUV model that will be launched first in China later this year. Just like its elder sibling, the Concept EV5 clearly exudes a progressive look from all angles. At the front, it gets a new form of Digital Tiger Face which is integrated with Kia’s Star Map signature lighting technology. The profile is amplified by sculpted lines, squares, fenders and creating a powerful stance. The side profile is further enhanced by the striking 21-inch wheels and an aerodynamic-enhancing roof spoiler.Although Kia hasn't disclosed specifications yet, it’s likely to ride on the same 800V E-GMP platform as other new Hyundai and Kia models, offering high-range abilities, multiple battery-pack options and single- and dual-motor configurations, ultrafast charging, and V2L.Like the EV9, the Concept EV5 has swivelling seats. Similarly, a full-length panoramic sunroof occupies the roof which also acts as a solar panel. The Concept EV5's cabin also uses a variety of sustainable materials like recycled plastic bottles for the seats, doors, dashboard, and headliner.
